Congratulations!
Congratulations and well done to all the teachers and pupils who participated in this year's Discover Primary Science and Maths Awards. SMPPS has been awarded our fourth plaque of STEM excellence in recognition of our outstanding efforts in science, technology, engineering and maths. Our log of evidence, that we submitted to the adjudication panel in Science Foundation Ireland, showcased all the excellent work done by our pupils and teachers over the course of the year in the STEM subjects. In addition, we have been awarded a digital badge, which can now be added to our school website, science blog and maths blog.
Discover Primary Science and Maths Log of Evidence 2015-2016
Over the last few months, we have been working very hard in SMPPS to compile our Discover Primary Science and Maths Log of Evidence for 2016. Our Log of Evidence demonstrates the great STEM work we have been doing in our school this year.
We submitted our Log of Evidence on Friday 22nd April to the adjudication panel in Science Foundation Ireland. Hopefully, we will be awarded our fourth plaque of STEM excellence in a few weeks time! A digital plaque is also being awarded to successful schools this year which can be put up on the school website and on our maths and science blogs. Check back here soon to see if we have been successful!!

The Discover Primary Science and Maths Programme, organised by Science Foundation Ireland aims to develop children's creativity, showing them how important science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) are to our everyday lives and how much fun they can be.
Each year, our school participates in the Discover Primary Science and Maths Awards. SMPPS has been awarded the Plaque of STEM Excellence for three years in a row and our plaques are proudly on display beside our science noticeboards. We hope to achieve our fourth award in May 2016.
As part of our efforts to achieve this award in 2016 and to celebrate Maths Week and Science Week in our school, a Log of Evidence will be compiled to demonstrate the extensive STEM work being done in our classrooms.
STEP 1 of the Log of Evidence will show how our pupils have engaged in hands-on science investigations in school. It will also give details of all the events our pupils attended during Science Week 2016.
STEP 2 of the Log of Evidence will show how our pupils have used technology as part of their school work.
STEP 3 of the Log of Evidence will show how our pupils have investigated engineering in class.
STEP 4 of the Log of Evidence will show how our pupils have used their maths skills.
STEP 5 of the Log of Evidence will show how pupils have presented and explained their STEM work to others.
